The islands of South Funen: “Ø-Folk”
New exhibition at Søbygaard (DK)

“Ø-Folk” is a photo documentary about the Danish islands: Avernakø, Bjørnø, Birkholm, Drejø, Hjortø,

Langeland, Lyø, Thurø, Tåsinge, Skarø, Strynø and Ærø.

The project is inspired by Danish adventurer and artist Achton Friis travels through the same islands over 100 years ago. The exhibition is a collection of 75 b/w photographs, many of those for the first time exhibited. The motivs are rural landscapes, traditional architecture and most of all portraits of people in their everyday environment. The photographs are taken with both medium and large format analogue cameras from 2011 and 2020.

The exhibition is located at the wonderful castle and museum Søbygaard, on Ærø.

A special thanks goes to “Kulturregion Fyn” and “Søbygaards Venner” for supporting this event.
